ONLINE PRESENCE- The New Age of Real Estate Marketing

 So, here I am sitting here writing my very first real estate blog.  This is just one step of many that I am doing to create the ultimate online real estate presence for my wife and her partner's company, Properties By Gold located in Pacific Palisades, CA.  Times have changed in the Real Estate Market.  One cannot just rely on some colorful mailers with pretty houses on it and trustworthy phrases like, "Let me find your dream home!"  Door-knocking is a thing of the past as are ads on bus benches. 

 Its 2010 and if you want to get noticed now, its all about the tweet, the tag, friend requests, fan pages, the retweet, META tags, multiple online profiles, YouTube, the ever important blog and the list goes on.  I've spent the last several weeks optimizing their website, creating multiple online accounts, linking accounts, requesting fans and tweeting.  I even paid our 7 year old daughter to click as many "follow me" tabs to help build our Twitter followers.  The funny thing about it though is that its all working.   We're doubling our Twitter numbers daily, gaining new Facebook fans, getting feedback from virtual tours and listings on our YouTube account and we're drawing more people to our website.  So if all these new statistics can lead to one new client, its all worth it.  But what does that say about our society.  The personal interaction is losing its place in daily life.  Meetings are via video conferencing. Phone calls are replaced with text messages and emails and so on.  I'm guilty as well.  Just this morning I emailed my wife a simple question that required a simple answer...I was in the family room and she was in the kitchen- 20' away.  I could of easily turned my chair around and asked her but I didn't.  I emailed her.  Why, I'm not sure.  Maybe I'm becoming programmed like our kids are with the new technology at their fingertips.

 Yes, the almighty online networking is important in today's business but so is personal communication.  I think the agents that can synergize the two are the agents that will continue to succeed.  So, if you are looking for a real estate blog that explains the turbulent real estate market, values, foreclosures, don't worry, there will be plenty of those to follow.  I just thought I would start off with a personal experience.
